AS SEEN ON TV

The illusion, the sounds, the ART. What craziness have you seen today? While seeing Peter Campus’s, “Three Transitions”, it’s like none I have ever seen before. It almost seems like Campus is trying to pull off a top-notch illusion as he wipes away his face to have it reappear and as he sticks his head into a wall to make it come out of his back. The final part of the 3 transitions is a live face in a picture being burned. This is an outstanding piece that no matter how hard someone watches; I still do not think it is something I will understand. The illusion truly portrays a feeling of questioning and with no doubt, shows all of Campus’s feelings.

In the video you can definitely tell that Campus is trying to prove a point or support a cause. While this cause is not something that is easily to depict you can easily get hints on what he is trying to achieve. Whether he wants you to see that under your skin is the real you, or that no matter how hard you try to erase something, it is always going to be there, he seems to pull off both subjects pretty well.

The way he goes about tearing a wall only for his hand to come through the back of his suit jacket, and then slowly erasing his face to reveal the same face underneath truly shows how his mind operated. He most likely wanted to show the public that based on television, you can only see what they show you. You cannot see what is behind the lines or behind the curtain. This video portrays this thought almost so well, that it can easily be mistaken to be seen as a topic of many different ideas.
